Welcome to This Is Awesome Education.

Or rather, the new, revitalized version of it.

I started this website in 2021 as a place to gather great resources for the areas of education that ignite my passions and interests. I didn't start my educational journey with these passions, as they changed when I moved overseas to in 2011.

A decade after graduating from my undergrad going back to university completely changed my outlook. I went from being a high school French teacher to falling in love with STEAM. From there, my curiosity expanded: I discovered the SDGs and began using science as a way to help children explore global issues. Talking about the Earth, sustainability, and how we connect to nature quickly became my happy place.

About six years ago, I started learning more about DEI. At the same time, I began to personally experience what those conversations are really about. That opened the door to human rights work and deeper questions around justice and identity. It’s been quite the journey.

I love being a voice for areas of education that don’t get a category on the report card—topics that don’t show up on standardized tests and aren’t yet the foundation of our school systems. I love reading, learning, and sharing the work, and I had built a strong community. But then, COVID came in and shattered the communities I had built. I lost the online spaces that made me feel connected, inspired, and excited. I stepped away from those platforms and it's taken a long time to get back.

But now, in 2025, I feel renewed. I’m back—not in the same way, but in a way that fits who I am now: a mother, an experienced educator, and someone who’s learned where to give her energy and who to give it to. I’ve learned how to protect my peace, but also how to stand up for what matters to me—no matter where I am.

I’m ready to rebuild a community of inspiring educators who believe in a different kind of education. I imagine classrooms where social justice is part of science, where the right to education or equality comes up in conversations about immigration. I want this site to be a central place where teachers can find practical, inspiring resources to integrate the SDGs, STEAM, and DEI into their everyday practice. But it's hard for many teachers to do so.

This is the constant struggle I hear from teachers all the time: “I want to do this work, but I don’t have time. I don’t have the resources. I don’t have the support.” I want to be that support.

This is why I’m rebuilding This Is Awesome Education. I still believe we can make education awesome—and that we can push it beyond the mainstream. I believe a lack of accessible, aligned resources is one of the biggest barriers teachers face when trying to elevate their practice. I want to help remove that barrier.

I want every teacher who visits this site to look at the resources and think,"WOW. This is AWEsome."And then feel empowered to do something a little different, a little more exciting, a little more awesome.
